Do You Have a Fan On?

I host a bible study in my home every other week. Our church calls the small groups that get together outside of Sunday gatherings Crews and my Crew is a group of about 9 women that regularly sit at my enormous kitchen table, help themselves to decaf coffee and a treat or two while we open the Word and they watch me scribble and doodle away on the large chalkboard that hangs on the wall behind the table. Since March of 2025 we’ve been working through the concepts of a book I’m working on (Insulation Atonement) and the themes and passages of scriptures surrounding it beginning in Genesis and working our way through. Last night, the lesson was on Jesus’s blood and how it protects us and liberates us like the Passover Lamb but how it cleanses us and takes our sins away like the Atonement goats.

We Have Spiritual Authority

Part of the lesson was using my analogy of the land ownership/stewardship and redemption which can be found in yesterday’s blog post. We landed on how Jesus reclaimed authority over the earth for humanity and that he’s given authority to believers, that we even sit with him in the heavenly realms. We discussed that while Sin and Death (and their legal representative the Satan) are squatters on the earth, spheres of authority still matter in the microcosm of this world. While Jesus is king of kings of the Earth, God is Creator and Sustainer of Life, their is still The World we must contend with; the World meaning the uncooperative system of operation that won’t acknowledge Christ as Lord and doesn’t get behind the good LIFE. The World system is home to the beast and anyone who chooses beastly living over obedience to Love. In the microcosm of our homes, there is placed an authority structure that we do have some say over.

Whatever you have legal stewardship of, you have authority over. Your mind and speech for one. From there your body, your time, your possessions…it all depends who you are and what or who you’ve given permission to in your life. In my home, I placed myself under my husband’s authority and he’s placed himself under the Lord’s authority. Our children then are under both of our authority even though they have the authority over their own mind and speech. Our home and land therefore comes under the legal authority of my husband and myself because our names are on the deed, therefore no is allowed to take up shop in our house while he goes off to work and I run an errand, that would be ridiculous and by law they would be removed by the police. Likewise, a spiritual entity other than the Holy Spirit, cannot operate in our home legally. Because we have authority over our home and free will, we can at any point invite anyone or anything to reside with us. We can metaphorically invite the vampire in. Dabbling with occult practices, messing with Quiji, permitting certain movies and tv shows or websites, entertaining certain ideas and philosophies, all these can open the door for spiritual entitites that are connected with certain sin and vices. Do we have to fear them, not necessarily, Jesus is Victorious. Do we have to be aware of the tactics of Sin and Death through Satan still at work on the earth, absolutely. We need to be wise and intentional christians in every area of our lives.

Prayer That Moves

After our study, we give time for prayer. Last night we had more than one request for prayer involving spiritual encounters at home including night terrors and intrusiveness by a presence in bedrooms and with children and items. Sensing we had to gather in a circle and hold hands to pray (normally we just sit around the table) we moved to the living room and linked hands. I prayed first. I prayed out of the experience I had with evil encounters and prayed for protection above all else, for sensitivity regarding what needs to go from our lives and for authority to pray over ourselves and seek God in those moments. As others prayed I could tangibly feel the Holy Spirit filling the circle my arms and body reverberating with its warmth and weight. On my left arm I even felt a small movement of air just a few times like a fan was blowing on low. When prayer was finished we all returned with tears and smiles, knowing we had encountered God’s spirit.

Before the circle broke the woman to my left said, “Do you have a fan on?” And turned to look behind her expecting to see a table fan blowing. What? I responded “You felt that?” and our eyes lit up. We then told the others how we felt a air move across us like a soft fan blowing. Other felt the spirit but not the air. I looked again to where it came from too see if the window was cracked, but nothing. No fan, windows and doors locked. I wasn’t surprised and yet was incredibly grateful to sense the Lord in such a way, among others, its simplicity so beautiful and strengthening. God is Good.

{In another blog post I’ll tell the dream that I had MONTHS ago that I believe foreshadowed this pray circle. Its wild!}

Are You Suffering from Spiritual Oppression?

If you are struggling with unwanted feelings, sensations, dreams or encounters in your home or life, Submit yourself to Jesus and bring those who have authority (given by law or given by your choice) to pray over you. Ask the Spirit for discernment regarding the things you have permitted in that need that permission revoked. Ask that you are shown what needs addressing in your life, your closet, your habits, your home. Jesus’s blood bought our freedom and his Name has power; put Him on, walk in power and might! You are the beloved child of a GOOD father.

If you want prayer or have questions, please reach out. I’d love to pray for you!
