A Path That is Cut
Like we do not
See the wind but feel its breath
Its power and movement
We know its presence.
We want to see it, Lord, your Spirit.
Like a mighty tornado
Tearing up trees and leaf and ground
Cutting a path across the land
Cutting spaces in half
Tearing out what was
Weak or in the way.
We want your power to tear through the
Sleepy towns of our hearts,
Our community.
A pillar of fire
Cut new paths through
Forests, through which we will look back
And remember and point out
to our children
Where new growth can spring
Where we can access the water.
